When installing from the 2006 LiveCD on AMD64 the "emerge gentoo-sources" command fails. The problem traces to the 2.6.15-r5 version info - r1 and the others have "3" as the version info, but r5 has "8' as the info. Must be a typo.
Sorry, I don't understand what "version info" are you talking about. Attach the logs and reopen then.
in the directory /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/sys-kernel/gentoo-sources file gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r1.ebuild uses the variable K_GENPATCHES_VER="3" - this is proper. the broken file gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r5.ebuild uses variable K_GENPATCHES_VER="8" - the "8" causes a hang when attempting to run "emerge gentoo-sources" when installing from the AMD 64 liveCD. emerge gives 404 not found errors when trying to download a dependancy. I don't have the exact name of the failed download - it was something like gentoo-sources-2.6.15.extras.something I confirmed by manually editing r5 to contain the K_GENPATCHES_VER="3" instead of "8". I then ran ebuild <filename> digest to fix the MD5 change, and was able to proceed through my install. I'm sorry I don't have the exact output - I decided to file the bug after the info was out of my buffers.
No longer in the tree, sorry. Use livecd-sources or wait for 2006.1
