xushi: I've committed a new ebuild. You'll have to live with untranslated kvoctrain documentation for now. Upstream's¹ job to correct this.

Wilfried: Can't reproduce. Please clean out the tmp directory and try to build it again. If this remains a problem, open a new bug and provide `emerge --info` as well as `emerge -pv gettext`.

A request: in the future, could you not revbump for such changes? On systems where 3.5.4 is installed successfully already, there is no benefit in upgrading whatsoever.

Well what about us that can't get it to install ? Atleast this ebuild revbump helped us. You should be thinking about everyone.
Comment 8 Michael Weyershäuser 2006-08-16 09:08:49 UTC
That's not what he meant, xushi. It's policy not to bump revisions for bugfixes that only fix compilation for some users but do nothing else. If this had been fixed on 3.5.4 everybody who couldn't emerge kde-i18n would have been able to do so after an emerge --sync, but everybody whose emerge went fine wouldn't have been bothered by it. By bumping the revision now everybody who has kde-i18n installed on ~ARCH is forced to do a (for many people) unnecessary emerge.

> That's not what he meant, xushi. It's policy not to bump revisions for bugfixes that only fix compilation for some users but do nothing else.

Exactly it's policy to issue a new ebuild revision, when the installed files change. In case of LINGUAS=et they do.

Testing systems - really, I do not care /that/ much about extra compilation cycles for them. I followed the ebuild policy strictly, but on the other hand, I wouldn't have bumped a stable ebuild for such a problem.
Comment 10 Sam 2006-08-16 12:48:46 UTC
Well i'm staying out of this as it's not really my business to put my head in the middle, even if I was the one who reported the bug.

But i just want to thank everyone for the fix, and hope that no one gets into trouble. After all, we're all here contributing for one good cause.
