Description michael huss 2006-08-03 10:15:20 UTC
I beleive my system's security was comprimised by bittorrent. I entered a root shell to install it, then ran it (without logging off root :-( ) and it looked fine at first. Then I entered search terms in the search box on bittorrent and my whole X screen went grey, and my kayboard stopped working. (my mouse was visible) I could hear the computer still working so I cut the power. When it came back on, it corrected filesystem errors automatically. I unmerged bittorrent, started X, and ran Gaim. If there was any doubt my security was comprimised, it ends here: Gaim will no longer talk to anyone! I type and I type, no response, not even from irc bots. BTW. Please forgive any errors in this message, this is my first bugzilla post.

Sounds like you need to run a memtest and a fsck to me.

Quite possibly just a memory leak somewhere or an X server crash. As for gaim not working, tried merging a newer version of gaim?
