This is just an idea, which I hope can be useful to reduce the workload created by the need to check ebuilds. It would be nice, if there was a utility, which I could call up with a specific recently installed ebuild, which would check the logs, if the installation worked, if yes, print out information about my configuration (CFLAGS, USE-flags, processor, hardware...) followed by the information about the ebuilds (name+version), which worked. Afterwards it would ask "do you want to upload the information automatically" and if the user confirms, upload the information to a server or to a specific bugzilla-item or similar. Or better still, first check, if the ebuild has already been verified to work with the configuration, and only upload if that isn't the case. This could make getting ebuilds from testing to stable smoother and easier, because users could confirm all the different possible configurations with very little efford. I don't know, if it would be as simple as it sounds (I assume that it wouldn't...), and I don't know, if you think it useful, but I wanted to submit the idea just in case that it is.
this is basically gentoostats.
