Just bootet 
# MD5 HASH
e9e7dbcefea1d2e2de85b6c12bd652c0 livecd-i686-installer-2006.1.iso
within qemu. After the gnome login the desktop is only partitaly loaded. No chance to logout, start the installer a.s.o

How much memory did you allocate to qemu? I've observed this behavior when booting in vmware with only 64MB allocated.

Okay, that's a bit different than what I saw.

I started qemu with "qemu -cdrom livecd-i686-installer-2006.1.iso"
Manpage says default ram size is set to 128 MB
