emerging sys-devel/gettext-0.15 on my ~amd64 box gives this sandbox violation, although it works on my ~x86 and ~ppc systems

Default /usr/tmp is a symlink to tmp -> /var/tmp, which should work fine, so I assume some weird setup here ...

I'd already checked this but I looked again and on the affected box, /usr/tmp is linked to var/tmp, not /var/tmp. It hasn't affected anything else, but thanks for making me look harder and sorry for the noise.
