this is a gettext issue. Downgrading gettext to 0.14.6 solved the problem. I'm very short of time right now so I'll look into it further later, but right now I'm tempted to palm it to the gettext maintainer ;)

same problem. downgrading sovled the problem.
under AMD64, it has the same bugs.
should be fixed in cvs now
