Description Philipp 2006-07-26 16:17:16 UTC
Hi,
I tried to emerge subversion-1.3.2-r3 (and -r1) with the following error:
"checking for availability of Berkeley DB... no
configure: error: Berkeley DB 4.0.14 wasn't found."

I tried emerge =sys-libs/db=4.0.14-r3 (and -r2) but this didn't change the behaviour of subverion's configure.

Bugzilla is _NOT_ the correct category. This is a Gentoo Linux bug.
Comment 2 Matteo Azzali (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 01:01:43 UTC
I have same exact issue with subversion-1.3.2-r3 and db-4.3.29-r2
(it seems to search for older library and doesn't finds 4.3 one)

Comment 4 Matteo Azzali (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 03:42:46 UTC
For me, an "emerge -1 apr-util" before re-emerging subversion did the trick.
I think apr-utils re-emersion is needed after updating db.
Comment 5 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 13:19:57 UTC
I guess that you don't have the old db installed anymore. Indeed in that case apr-util needs to be rebuilt. Subversion uses the db version included in apr-util.
Comment 6 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-27 13:20:59 UTC
Not included, used by apr-util.

In any case this is something I can't fix. It is caused by inexact dependency specification in portage (and dep tracking).
