following normal Gentoo handbook for installs - gentoo-nofb nox of livecd 2006.1 mini md5sum stage3-i686-2006.1.tar.bz2 93913d58a0fb3d1c501349c3ae96c266 stage3-i686-2006.1.tar.bz2 portage md5sum portage-2006.1.tar.bz2 6fca569ec0062d14ed9dc1b82678cf69 portage-2006.1.tar.bz2 emerge --sync gives error at end of invalid object in emerge. If I use snapshot from regular mirror no errors and all alright. Continuing testing with regular portage from mirrors.
The actual error would be nice.
I use the same minimal-install-cd, portage version and stage3-i686 # MD5 HASH 93913d58a0fb3d1c501349c3ae96c266 stage3-i686-2006.1.tar.bz2 Error message is: sent 529263 bytes received 49889801 bytes 162380.24 bytes/sec total size is 145514826 speedup is 2.89 >>> Updating Portage cache: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 2983, in ? conf = portage.config(config_profile_path=portage.settings.profile_path[:], \ TypeError: unsubscriptable object
It looks like this happens when the /etc/make.profile symlink is pointing to a non-existant profile. For some reason, it's pointing to the old location of the new 2006.1 profile. I'm rebuilding the i686 stage 2/3 now with the proper link.
The stage2-i686 is rebuilt and uploaded. stage3-i686 is uploading now. The new one should be up in ~30 minutes.
alright, it's now working but there is this alert: livecd / # emerge -Duav world !!! Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore. !!! Please upgrade to the following profile if possible: defult-linux/x86/2006.0 this might be because 2006.1 is not released yet, so I post it here to be shure :-)
Yes, that will be removed when 2006.1 is released. It's there to attempt to keep curious people from playing with it before it's ready :)
Fixed in latest stage2/3-i686 tarballs
