Why don't you just try to build it with "emerge openoffice" instead of doing it in pieces? Also could it be that there was a reasonable amount of time between the compile and install phase (and maybe an emerge sync in between)

And I guess diskspace is no problem here?
Comment 3 Yura Kudryashov 2006-07-27 05:33:40 UTC
Disk space is not a problem, but I have less than 256 Mb RAM (but 512Mb swap). Is it critical? I'm trying to `emerge openoffice` now, but it'll take a long time on my computer. I'll write about result.

> Is it critical?

Yes, that's why the ebuild is warning about that right at the start ;) OOo definately needs more than 256 MB to build, actually I'm quite surprised that you made it that far.

Anyway, closing this, we already have a warning about that in the ebuild...
Comment 5 Carl Hudkins 2006-10-02 01:41:22 UTC
Could someone explain why this was marked INVALID without a good explanation?

Here, I've gotten through the entire OO build (the compile completely finishes) only to have the install fail because of missing "intros.zip". Plenty of disk space remaining, even after the compile has finished, as you can see:

Also:

nenene ~ # cat /etc/portage/env/app-office/openoffice
# To allow better than "make -j1":
WANT_DISTCC="true"
# In ebuilds after 2.0.3, this becomes:
WANT_MP="true"

# Build fails with missing file "intros.zip" in localization. Try this:
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
# From Gentoo wiki:
LANGUAGE="en_US:en"

The LANG/LANGUAGE settings were added after the first failure; I removed the /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-2.0.3/.compiled file and tried again, with the same result. Next I will try the entire build again, from scratch. May also try building 2.0.4 though I've been avoiding it because it seems to be in flux now.

BTW, I've successfully built 2.0.0 before, without even using distcc. Didn't have any problems like this earlier. I'm adding my info in case others have the same problem; only found one forum post and something on the Russian Gentoo forum (which I can't read) referring to this particular failure.
