Description Ross 2003-01-18 09:34:12 UTC
I've emerge libwww-perl version 5.64, however when I try to use it, it give the following error message

Use of uninitialized value in pattern match (m//) at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/LWP/Protocol.pm line 114.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/LWP/Protocol.pm line 87.
http://www.gentoo.org/index.html

I have tried other versions and they all do the same.
I am behind a proxy but I don't think that is the problem.

Can you give an example of the use/call line you are trying to invoke? Will
just make it easier to track down the problem. Thanks,

Michael

lwp-rget http://www.gentoo.org/index.html

Athough any invocation of the GET method seems to return an error.

Please emerge sync and try the newer version of libwww-perl, 5.68. I ended up
killing the process, but a snippet:

Your getting the correct output from that program.
I've emerged sync
emerged the latest version, still the same problem, i've remerge perl and libwww-perl's dependancys. Still no luck
Comment 6 Ross 2003-01-26 03:46:33 UTC
libwww-perl is now stopping me using my machine effectivly, Is it being resolved?
Comment 7 Ross 2003-05-06 07:50:16 UTC
It seems to be a problem with my network, I have squid running as a proxy altohugh this is fine for other programs it isn't for libwww-perl.
Comment 8 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-06 16:39:57 UTC
sorry, seems like an libwww-perl bug, not a gentoo bug
