Description Stefan Knoblich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-21 06:51:59 UTC
The german version of the guide is missing the

"Note: Do not do this if you are using binary drivers or if there isn't a specific reason you need 7.1 rather than 7.0. Binary drivers are not yet compatible with X.Org 7.1."

note at the beginning of the "Second step: Installing modular X" section.

It isn't really missing, the document just hasn't been updated yet. Due to the important warning I'll try to do this ASAP.
However, I wanted to point out to the user that for translated docs that aren't current the right hand column notifies the reader of the fact with a link to the current original.
This notification doesn't appear for the modular-x-howto. I suspect that the function might not traverse the proj/ directory. Could somebody who is in the knows about this verify that?

You suspect right. That note only appears under /doc and if the doc is listed in metadoc (you get another note when file is not in metadoc) *and* the link attribute of the doc contains the full path(1)
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.documentation/2263

This doc is a clear example why anything outside of /doc hasn't got any reliable versioning tags.

(1)This requirement will eventually go away when all www nodes have been upgraded to '>gorg-0.5'
Comment 3 Jan Hendrik Grahl (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-22 04:47:16 UTC
Since the doc is know updated to the version in question I'll mark this fixed.
Thanks for clarifying this neysx.
