Hi, I followed 'Migration to modular X HOWTO' on http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml Since I did the migration I can't switch to text mode using Ctrl+Alt+F1 anymore. Please, don't refer to the forums. Include all relevant info in your bug reports.
In order to have the system in the best shape I did: # emerge --update --deep --newuse world # emerge --depclean # revdep-rebuild Without success. emerge -e xorg-x11 didn't solve the case neither.
Created attachment 92339 [details] /var/log/Xorg.2.log showing Fatal server error: lockup I guess this log file was created when I encountered the problem but I'm not 100% sure.
This should be fixed in 7.1. Please unmask xorg-server, mesa, mesa-progs, xorg-x11 and all relevant drivers in /etc/portage/package.keywords and give 7.1 a try.
I tried to upgrade to 7.1 but I still have 7.0 in portage tree even after emerge --sync * x11-base/xorg-x11 Latest version available: 7.0-r1 Latest version installed: 7.0-r1 Size of files: 0 kB Homepage: http://xorg.freedesktop.org Description: An X11 implementation maintained by the X.Org Foundation (meta package) License: as-is
Back from status 'NEEDINFO' to 'OPEN', sorry.
I filled package.keywords and xorg 7.1 appears to be available, I'll emerge it soon and get back. Thanks
Same problem after upgrade to 7.1. X server also crashes when trying to switch between different KDE sessions
Confirm that you're using xorg-server 1.1.0 and xf86-video-i810 1.6. If so, please file a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org and post the link here.
* x11-base/xorg-server Latest version available: 1.1.1 Latest version installed: 1.1.1 * x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810 Latest version available: 1.6.0 Latest version installed: 1.6.0 I use xorg-server 1.1.1 instead of 1.1.0, should I file a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org anyway?
Sorry, I meant xorg-server 1.1.*. Yeah, please do.
