I've rewrited realrcptto patch http://code.dogmap.org/qmail/qmail-1.03-realrcptto-2004.09.14.patch for latest qmail ebuild (qmail-1.03-r16). It rejects mail with unknown recipient address at SMTP/QMTP conversation level. This makes less work for the qmail machine, since these undeliverable addresses are rejected before ever entering the qmail queue.

NACK, for qmail and netqmail. We don't include more custom patches.
(sorry for the noise, these are just notes for myself and for anyone else that wants to know exactly how to patch this) wget http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=92274 mv attachment.cgi\?id\=92274 qmail-1.03-r16.ebuild in the /usr/portage/mail-mta/qmail dir. wget http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=92278&action=view and move it to a file in /usr/portage/mail-mta/qmail/files/1.03-r16 called qmail-1.03-realrcptto-2004.09.14.patch then in the /usr/portage/mail-mta/qmail dir, do ebuild qmail-1.03-r16.ebuild digest then emerge mail-mta/qmail
We haven't announced this yet, but sooner or later we'll drop mail-mta/qmail completly in favour of mail-mta/netqmail. Since mid January, mail-mta/netqmail is the default for virtual/qmail.
