Please can you try: gst-inspect-0.10 playbin GStreamer 0.8 has nothing to do with this, and can be parallely installed without affecting 0.10.

I had this problem as well. After re-emerging liboil, I re-emerged gstreamer: emerge gstreamer This re-emerged v0.10.8.
