Description Simon Keimer 2003-01-17 06:10:49 UTC
hi,

I've made an ebuild for PureSecure, a TIDS from Demarc.
It is depending on another ebuild i made, Mail::Sendmail, find it at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13854

mike assigning to you -- but let's wait for g-cpan to be more robust and
integrated into portage -- jrray and I talked about some stuff, so you'll prolly
hear about it soon.

essentially, g-cpan will be recoded into python. and he mentioned 3 files or
something so that emerge -s and emerge -u would work for the dynamically
installed modules..

This ebuild and the software it deals with is sufficiently complex that I believe
it should be handled by somebody with familiarity with the software, or at least
the general genre of intrusion detection systems.

No one on the hardened herd is willing to support demarc at this time.

Personally I don't want to touch this software with a 10 foot pole because of it's license. I have uploaded a copy of the license to http://dev.gentoo.org/~mboman/demarc-puresecure for your information.

I didn't want to continue with the download after reading the license, hence I can't continue putting this package into portage.

Also, it doesn't seem like anyone else in netmon herd is interested to support demarc puresecure at this moment either.

Bouncing bug back to bug-wranglers.

closing, since the licensing is a bit restrictive on this to make any developer comfortable with maintaining the gentoo package
