Description Vladimir Karmishin 2006-07-15 13:06:41 UTC
Hi !

I would like to submit binkd-0.9.8 FTN (Fidonet)-style mailer ebuild.
I think the best place for it can be net-misc/binkd. Ebuild depends on
unzip.

binkd CVS ebuild.

I think CVS ebuild can be useful too.

While almost all the Web sites and mirrors once pertaining to binkd seem to be gone, its GitHub page still shows some developer activity. Therefore, the big question is - is there still interest in having it included into Portage? I strongly suspect this may not be the case (my guess is that everyone who is still interested in running a FTN point or node will have had this set up manually for a long, long time) but it doesn't hurt to ask...

By the way, if there IS interest, it would be good to confirm binkd runs fine on amd64 when MD5-hashed passwords are used - there was a time when its MD5 implementation only worked on 32-bit machines and from what I can see the patch I submitted upstream back then, which linked binkd against OpenSSL and used their imlementation instead, has NOT been incorporated. I cannot test this myself any more, my FidoNet region shut down several years ago.

No interest, it seems. Closing... That's the way it goes, binkd.
