Description Dirkjan Ochtman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-15 07:09:10 UTC
The vpopmail has released 5.4.17, a stable release with a bunch of bugfixes. Would be nice if this could go into the portage tree. Thanks!
Comment 1 Dennis Petschull 2006-10-15 09:36:37 UTC
It's been a long time since Manuzhai posted this, and vpopmail is still on version 5.4.16 in portage.
I would also REALLY appreciate it, if someone could bring vpopmail-5.4.17 into portage.

THX!

ebuild for version bump.
please note that on vpopmail sourceforge project, this version is reported as "stable".
so is better to push it into the portage soon.
Comment 4 Stian Knudsen 2007-04-10 12:40:34 UTC
bumping again in hopes of getting 5.4.17 ebuild into portage. Im having problems with 5.4.16, and its the only version in the tree atm.
Comment 5 Jochen Schlick 2007-06-16 09:52:24 UTC
works fine or at least better on amd64 than 5.4.16
Comment 6 Matthew Goodman 2007-07-27 19:21:47 UTC
As much as I hated to, I had to install 5.4.17 from source.

To be fair, I had a previously installed version from source, but needed to upgrade. After hacking the ebuild for 5.4.17, it broke my install. I was getting "Failed to Delete User from Auth Backend" errors, and also the CONFIG_PROTECT causing portage to hang was bad.

I'm thinking the vpopmail package needs to be re-evaluated from the ground up. Purely my opinion, but it has obviously been long-abandoned and the way its configured for Gentoo may be out of date.

there is an (experimental) ebuild for vpopmail-5.4.19 in my overlay (http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/dev/hollow/)

vpopmail-5.4.19 is now in portage
