Description Pat Double 2003-01-16 09:25:26 UTC
I compiled media-video/avifile-0.7.25.20030114 file, but when I run aviplay it
complains that VIDEO cannot be displayed because avifile was compiled without
SDL support. I added "sdl" to my USE flags and checked that libsdl is installed,
version 1.2.5 has been installed. The previous version of aviplay worked fine. I see
the following error during configure:

checking for sdl-config... sdl-config
setting SDL_CONFIG to /usr/bin/sdl-config
checking for sdl-config... /usr/bin/sdl-config
checking for SDL - version >= 1.0.0... no
*** Could not run SDL test program, checking why...

remerge sdl and see what happens, please?
Comment 2 Pat Double 2003-01-16 09:45:17 UTC
I remerged libsdl and then avifile, no difference.

just as a note... 0.7.25 seems to be the most stable version currently. .26 and .27 have problems with avi video playing. also, all these current builds are still marked unstable for a reason. Many things are still being worked through upstream. :)
Comment 8 Nick Hadaway 2003-01-31 00:19:22 UTC
I have added avifile-0.7.27.20030122-r1 to portage. This includes a cvs
updated from 2003/01/30 and this one actually compile and plays avi files! imagine that!... Please let me know if you have any problems with this version. Also please test the latest unstable win32 codecs as well if you are interested.
Comment 9 Pat Double 2003-01-31 07:13:00 UTC
avifile can now find SDL, thanks! It appears to find the clip and play it OK. The audio is fine, but
I'm having an unrelated issue with Xv. It only works shortly after a restart, after that the
display is blank. I can use shared memory for the video mode and it works fine. This happens
with xine as well. I'm not sure how to specifically test the win32codecs, but they were updated
before avifile.

Thanks.

good to hear... i will unmask this build if I can get a couple more verifications that things are good. :)
