xlsfonts is still marked ~ on all platforms.

Only x86 needs this for dosemu-1.3.2, nothing else depends on it, and dosemu-1.3.2 is not stable either. Don't see why is this needed.

How else does one see the list of all available fonts on a system ?

It's a useful tool in itself and doesn't really need to have any app depend on it IMO.

Nothing depends on openoffice, and it's marked stable. :=)

I'd like this to be stable as well. It is a useful utility for listing fonts so we can use them in non-fontconfig aware applications, like emacs and such.

Try fc-list, it's fontconfig's version. That'll show you available fonts from the perspective of most current apps.

Almost apples and oranges, more than 99% of those font's won't work with xterm/rxvt.

and anti-aliased fonts are harder on the eye than regular fonts when you are going to be looking at terms all day long. The old style fonts are sharper.

Like xfontsel this is another tool that has been shipping with X11 forever and now suddenly it's marked unstable!

I did a bit of investigation and found that a when XOrg7.0 was marked stable you've left out almost all the tools/utils that were part of the older releases.

In the two weeks between my open this bug and now the following tools/utils have been unmasked

 *  x11-apps/viewres
 *  x11-apps/xbiff
 *  x11-apps/xcalc
 *  x11-apps/xfontsel
 *  x11-apps/xload
 *  x11-apps/xmag

I think all the other utils too should be unmasked if for no other reason other than they used to be stable before the split!

These are the others which haven't been unmasked as yet ..

*  x11-apps/beforelight
*  x11-apps/ico
*  x11-apps/listres
*  x11-apps/oclock
*  x11-apps/showfont
*  x11-apps/x11perf
*  x11-apps/xclipboard
*  x11-apps/xditview
*  x11-apps/xeyes
*  x11-apps/xfd
*  x11-apps/xgc
*  x11-apps/xkill
*  x11-apps/xlogo
*  x11-apps/xvinfo

Do I need to open a separate bug report for this request ?

Kingsly,

i found this: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.user/164953

so just file a bug report for each app you use
