glibc 3.4 is now in ~x86, so about 60% percent of our users use it. It doesn't use "userlocales" USE flag anymore, and doesn't look at the /etc/locales.build file at all - using /etc/locale.gen instead. We need to update all our docs to include instructions for both <glibc-3.4 and >glibc-3.4 versions and later on, when 3.4 goes stable, remove <glibc-3.4 information. Docs that need such an update: /doc/en/guide-localization.xml /doc/en/utf-8.xml /doc/en/handbook/hb-install-system.xmk
glibc 2.4 of course.
mmm not quite ... locale.gen is in glibc-2.3.6-r4 which is stable for most arches now
Great, so we drop locales.build everywhere and add locale-gen info. Patches soon. :-)
