Description schege 2006-07-11 18:20:41 UTC
Trying to emerge gnome-base/gnome-2.14.2 which goes on to pull in x11-themes/gnome-themes-2.14.2 as a dependency. The latter errors out while checking package requirements and does not complete compilation stating that gtk-engines-2 cannot be found. The following bulld error message is issued:

Code:

No package 'gtk-engines-2' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables THEME_ENGINE_CFLAGS
and THEME_ENGINE_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Comment 1 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-11 20:01:22 UTC
what does:
pkg-config --modversion gtk-engines-2

say?

We already have >=x11-themes/gtk-engines-2.5 in the depends.

thanks.
Comment 2 schege 2006-07-12 03:05:27 UTC
pkg-config --modversion gtk-engines-2

Package gtk-engines-2 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk-engines-2.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk-engines-2' found

Thanks

Comment 3 Leonardo Boshell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-26 21:40:18 UTC
This looks like a local problem. Please verify if gtk-engines was already installed by portage (e.g. using "emerge gtk-engines -pv"). If it hasn't been installed yet, it's likely a problem in your machine; try running "emerge gnome-themes -pv" or "emerge gnome -pv" and see if gtk-engines shows up in the list of packages to be installed.

No response, assuming fixed.
