I get this after emerge -u xpp

works here with gcc 3.2.2 and fltk 1.0.11-r3 
which version of fltk are you using? (sounds like wrong fltk version)

No longer the case...the next version up fixed this problem.  Now it's gtkmm
that is driving me batty...
