I can not connect to http://forums.gentoo.org since approximately 2006-07-10 2AM GMT. After some interview with my ISP i got the information that the ip address common for all it's customers (I am such an unlucky NATted guy) is probably banned. Could anyone please allow access to forums.gentoo.org from 212.24.142.40? Thanks in advance.
That IP address was banned because it was DoS'ing the forums last night. There were over 400 active connections from that single IP address. Even factoring in NAT'ed clients, that's still too high to be normal. What assurances can you offer that, if we do unban the IP, we won't see the same problem?

I am neither the ISP nor the attacker. Hundreds people share the same IP and I can not warrant for every single nuts or virus infected pc. Therefore I unfortunately cannot give any guarantees.
I've unbanned the IP for now. If it happens again, regardless of cause, we will permanently ban the IP.

Since your isp seems to understand what caused the problem to begin with, maybe you should contact them again and ask them to look into the situation and see who is on their network trying to do bad things to our forums. If your ISP gets rid of that person then the chances your IP will be permanently banned will go down significantly.
