Description Malte S. Stretz 2006-07-10 02:46:48 UTC
This bug was first reported to the OOo Bugzilla, see URL. It seems like I can reproduce it with the source ebuild only, the binary one works fine (while the binary 2.0.2 shows the same behaviour).

I compiled OOo 2.0.3 from the sources and purged my ~/.ooo-2.0 directory. Afterwards, the letter wizard (and others) had problems creating a new document, see URL for details.

Comment 1 Malte S. Stretz 2006-07-11 01:17:20 UTC
The OOo team says: "Sorry, but we do not support packages from other distributors."

As the openoffice-bin ebuild seem to work fine (and the self built one with a ~/.ooo-2.0 directory created by the -bin one), maybe one of the Gentoo patches or the build environment breaks it.
Comment 2 Hanno Zysik (geki) 2006-07-11 02:24:58 UTC
I would diff the two ~/.ooo-2.0/ directories. Like:

# diff -Nur ~/.ooo-2.0.broken/ ~/.ooo-2.0.working/ > /tmp/ooo-config.diff

Then you may attach that diff, please.
Comment 3 Malte S. Stretz 2006-07-11 04:07:48 UTC
Good idea. Will do so when I've got some spare time.

oo-bin doesn't work for me (as far as the Add Dict wizard is concerned)

OOo isn't writing anything to the console.

You shouldn't use the Add Dictionary wizard, we have myspell-ebuilds for that now.

Besides that, I can confirm the original issue, so will have to take another look into this

The problem is gone now for me, maybe some java-issue. Could you try OOo 2.0.4_rc1 and see if that works for you?

Just trying to get some attention here, please see the advise above

What I noticed is that the wizards in oocalc2 seem to not large enough, in the horizontal direction, to show all the buttons and extends off the screen on the bottom. The happen for me with the formula editor. The formal cells pop-up is sized appropriately horizontally but extends off the screen on the bottom. I am running openoffice in kde. Here are my use flags I built it:

[ Found these USE variables for app-office/openoffice-2.0.3 ]

How is this related to the original bug report?
Comment 10 Stephen Torri 2006-09-20 09:07:24 UTC
I felt adding my comments was appropriate since the title of the bug was that openoffice breaks wizards. Should it be a seprate bug? I thought it was a good thing to combine the two.

I think you are mixing some things up, the formula editor is not even wizard IIRC, and the bug here is about the wizards (like in File > Wizards) not working at all. If you open a new bug please add a screenshot to illustrate your problem, also try out 2.0.4_rc1-r1 first and see if maybe the problem has already been solved
Comment 12 Malte S. Stretz 2006-09-20 09:24:45 UTC
Re the original bug and 2.0.4_rc1: I'm currently not much at home and dont have the time to try 2.0.4 but I'll do when I have a (long) moment.
Comment 13 Malte S. Stretz 2006-09-28 02:42:00 UTC
I checked out OOo 2.0.4_rc2 and the issue seems to be fixed. Might also be caused by my switch to GCC 4.1.1, anyway, it works for me now.
