Description cazzantonio 2006-07-09 02:32:15 UTC
LICENSE field of new xorg-7.0 modular eubuilds contains an incredible number of different licences.
Every component of it has a different kind of license and there are more than 100 ebuild to check if you want to control what kind of licenses you are installing...
Since many of those licenses are almost identical would it be impossible to group them under a single kind of license? (at least a few "big" groups)

Since I'm here asking for it have you ever thought about introducing a few different license categories for every package? like "gpl-compatible", "bsd-like"... just what the end-user whant to know...
This is just an idea but it would make happy every kind of users who check for licenses of what they install... not much I suppose but still an important feature to add...

No, it wouldn't. License needs to match the real license. The rest is duplicate of Bug 17367.
