And just for the sake of humour, lets just attach the irc snippet from #gentoo-dev less ending less then an hour before the screwup.

15:55 <+ferringb> ah... moving use_expand_hidden
15:55 <+ferringb> heavy lifting, that one ;)
15:56 <+ferringb> related note (since I just pulled you cia logs), kindly get the paludis-0.4 tarball on the mirrors *before* adding the ebuild to the tree, unlike the last two times please. :)
15:56 <+ferringb> realize you're not the one, but poking you so you make sure it's done sanely
15:57 <+ferringb> *your cia, pardon
15:57 <@spb> oh shut up
15:57 <+ferringb> what, the smart ass comment, or the "allow 4 hours for the tarball to actually hit" bit?
15:58 <@spb> the general being an unnecessary pain in the arse, perhaps
15:58 <@spb> i know perfectly well how to do a version bump, thank you
15:58 -!- mabi [n=mabi@p54B86441.dip.t-dialin.net] has quit [Client Quit]
15:58 <+ferringb> 2 verbumps disagree with that one. :)
15:58 <@spb> 2 version bumps not done by me.
15:59 <+ferringb> see my statement above...
15:59 <+ferringb> specifically "realize you're note the one"
15:59 <@spb> which directly contradicts what you just said
15:59 <+ferringb> bleh. lumping you in with the general paludis monkeys
15:59 <+ferringb> don't care whom, just get it right this time is the point
15:59 <@spb> which general paludis monkeys ?
15:59 <@spb> s/whom/who/ please
15:59 -!- bassss [n=bass@85.136.108.224] has joined #gentoo-dev
16:00 <+ferringb> well, considering your the maintainer of that package also...
16:00 <@spb> and the point i was making is that i know perfectly well how to get it right, so you don't need to tell me how to do it as if i'm some kind of idiot
16:00 <+ferringb> ferdy/dercorny made the mistake last time around
16:00 <@spb> neither of whom are me, you will note.
16:00 <+ferringb> ya know...
16:00 <@spb> if you want to complain about it, talk to the people who actually did it
16:00 * ferringb shrugs
16:01 <+ferringb> your package, plain and simple.
16:01 <@spb> and ?
16:01 <+ferringb> implicit is your responsibility... have others bumping it for you, hey, fine...
16:02 <+ferringb> and why are we arguing over a simple "upload the damn file this time around" ?
16:02 <@spb> because you're being an arsehole about it, perhaps ?
16:02 <+ferringb> not intending on pissing you off on that one, but it would be nice if it hit the mirror prior this time around. :)
16:02 <@spb> as i said
16:02 <@spb> i am perfectly capable of doing a version bump without you telling me how
16:02 <+ferringb> yeah, I got it.
16:02 <+ferringb> you're the maintainer, but others verbump it.
16:03 <+ferringb> poking the maintainre about past verbumps of their pkg being done badly aparently is wrong (cause ya know, the maintainer isn't responsible for it at all of course)
16:04 <+ferringb> joking that it would be nice to have it done right this time around == "I know how to verbump". 'k, point was your pkg should be bumped properly, not if you know how.
16:04 <@spb> there's a difference between poking the maintainer to make sure they know about it and repeatedly mentioning it at every opportunity just for the sake of being a pain in the arse
16:04 -!- Calchan [n=Calchan@88-136-80-3.adslgp.cegetel.net] has quit [Remote closed the connection]
16:04 <@spb> you're much further towards the latter right now.
16:04 * ferringb sighs
16:04 <+ferringb> pointed it out shortly after each time y'all screwed it up.
16:05 <@spb> and several times when noone did
16:05 <+ferringb> via cia logs, see that 0.4 is coming down the pipe- hence stating it prior.

<snip logs>

One, this log has nothing to do with this bug, two you were being inciteful which resulted in another wonderful discussion.

I'm glad you are helping out Gentoo and the Paludis team by pointing out they screwed their digest, no need to be a dick to em' about it.

Alec, if asking you to upload a file prior to releasing (since the package you maintain so far is 2 for 2 on screwing that one up) is being 'inciteful', fine, guilty.

Considering a joking/friendly reminder resulted in the maintainer being a dick and kick banning me and _still_ managing to screw up a version bump, sorry- right or wrong a bit of salt is going to be applied. Childish, but if someone is going to be a dick to others it's expected folks aren't going to be nice in return after a certain point.

Meanwhile, stephen you still have a broken pkg in the tree (all versions), kindly fix it.

Quick suggestion- spend your time doing work rather then insulting people.

Yes, can call me a cunt/twat/arsehole/whatever all you want, but reality is your screaming about knowing how to verbump properly doesn't fix the fact you still fucked up the version bump, and management of that package (your responsibility) has been broken repeatedly.

Really, drop the drama and just do it right. Someone reminds you to please upload the file _prior_ to version bumping, tell them "yes, well aware" rather then "shut up you cunt" or whatever other idiot cock off you come up with.

At the very least, if you tried being civil in responding you wouldn't look like an incompetent boob when you screw up a simple task like version bumping.

I did. It was after the fourth time you mentioned it apropos of nothing, when I had had nothing to do with the previous two version bumps, that I started to get annoyed. And I have been spending plenty of time being productive of late, and not watching rival projects for activity just for the sake of picking holes in their work.

Wasn't fouth, even if it was show some restraint- it's a god damn reminder, not a request for your firstborn.

Additionally, (bluntly) lay off the pipe and don't fall back to the "you're trying to poke at paludis/waste our time".

_All versions of your pkg were not mergable_. Think that through. If I was after screwing with you, I would've said nothing (what better demo of paludis then it being unmergable?). It's a pkg in the tree, no different then others- needs to be done right.

Additionally, even if you don't have a repoman installation locally (as you stated), shouldn't ignore a horkage of this sort for 3 days- in the future bug someone who has access to fix it rather then sitting on your ass and ignoring it.

You were, and still are, being a twat. I was, and still am, in a bad mood already. Shut up.
