Bug 13911 – KPortage slowdown

When emerging some packages using kportage the entire X window system sometimes
pauses intermittently for a few seconds. Also, when laoding kportage, sometimes
it hangs when loading the portage tree.

which kportage do you use? 0.6?

KPortage 0.5 (using kde 3.0.5a)

please test kportage-0.6. it shouldn't hang during emerge, 
loading the portage tree might be slower (we added keyword masking), but it also 
shouldn't hang.

Much better now apart from the slow loading (better late than never though ;)

well, loading is faster than in 0.5.x ;) 
but keyword masking is really slow :( 
 
and we have a nice caching, if you don't change your portage tree, it'll load it's db 
from one big file stored on disk :)

hanging is fixed, we have faster reading/masking in 0.6.1 :)
