This is an ebuild for the Counterstrike modification for halflife linux server. It comes with a startscript which uses screen so you can get to the console anytime. A sample server.cfg is included. The server is run as user halflife for the security conscious.

If the halflife-server ebuild completes correctly you should have the halflife user and the games group is in the baselayout. I dunno about the ebuild files you made from mine but my old ebuilds works together and your new halflife-server ebuild creates the halflife user without problems as well.
i used your ebuild from your site, i just renamed it.. The passwd stuff should in in postinst, instead of install.. halflife-server is already in portage (1.1.1.0)
It is in postinst. Just have a look at the halflife-server ebuild you already put into portage. As I said it works for me here, I have a halflife user after installing halflife-server.
ah heh, ofcourse :o) I didn't actually merge the halflife server.. Stupid me :o) Ofcourse there was no halflife user :o)
One last question, is quake2 totally free? If so, do you have an ebuild laying around somewhere? :o) Thanks!
Hehe well AFAIK the game engine is fully GPL'd but not the game data but don't quote me on that. And no I don't have an ebuild for it :)
