Hi, We are a local student group at Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal, and we recently set a bunch of servers to mirror the FULL gentoo distfiles. We follow the instructions and now we got our servers online. The machines are sitting on a 1Gbps line to the world, althought the current NIC are 100Mbps only, but you should get some serious speeds from this machines. Without further ado, here's the URL's for the servers: http://cesium.di.uminho.pt/gentoo ftp://cesium.di.uminho.pt/pub/gentoo Now if we pass your tests, we want to be included as a official mirror under the name "Universidade do Minho (Portugal)" Feel free to tell me if something is wrong
added me to CC
the http url changed to maintain consistency: http://cesium.di.uminho.pt/pub/gentoo ftp://cesium.di.uminho.pt/pub/gentoo
jeez nobody likes me?
a) Please have patience. b) I saw your email as well and was going to take a look today before you pushed the bug to blocker. c) We let the mirror sit for a while before we do anything about it. d) How is this a blocker? Please don't change status to something it really isn't. e) The more you keep poking us about it, the lesser the chances that we'll actually do something about it.
sorry for all that dude :(
The mirrors look okay though slightly lagged, nothing to worry about yet. * Timestamp on cesium.di.uminho.pt is Tue, 08 Aug 2006 02:08:18 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Tue Aug 8 06:58:21 UTC 2006 I'll run a few more checks across the coming weeks and then we'll take a call.
We are down for (anual) maintenance until Wed, 09 Aug 2006 17:00:00 +0000 Sorry for the inconvenience
hi there :) How's our mirror? Are you getting problems? Please tell me if anything is wrong :) Cheers
I ran a check : * Timestamp on cesium.di.uminho.pt is Tue, 05 Sep 2006 14:08:03 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Tue Sep 5 19:04:47 UTC 2006 There is a very minor lag, I'll check again in a couple of days and then we'll add you in.
Hi, thanks :) The minor Lag might be due to the disc coming up from sleep mode, wich is easily solved! Also we expect to have far better hardware in a not to distant future! :D
hi there :) we checked again, and the lag had a reason: we've misconfigured the zoneinfo settings, so the clock was always 1 hour late it should be fixed by now :) tell us if you encounter further problems thank you
Hi there! We just got informed that the entire campus network will be down for maintenance from Fri, 22 Sep 2006 22:00:00 +0000 to Sat, 23 Sep 2006 10:00:00 +0000. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Ran a check, things look fine * Timestamp on cesium.di.uminho.pt is Wed, 04 Oct 2006 01:08:08 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Wed Oct 4 03:53:39 UTC 2006 The ftp server seems to be down, can you please check? Thanks
Hi there! Great to know that the timestamps are ok! The FTP issue was a problem with our network... We changed the internal organization of the network and missed an update of an iptables rule. It should be working flawlessly now :)
Yeah, looks good now : * Timestamp on cesium.di.uminho.pt is Mon, 09 Oct 2006 01:11:21 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Mon Oct 9 03:34:13 UTC 2006
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start syncing from masterdistfiles.gentoo.org as the email I have sent to you instructs. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send out notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Please also monitor http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org as this application is used to keep track of the up-to-date nature of our mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth! For Infrastructure, Shyam Mani
Hi there! Thanks for the adition! Unfortunately, my old email (krani1@cromosdodi.no-ip.org) is not functioning anymore, because I lost that machine... Could you please send the instructions to this email? (root (at) cpan (dot) org) ??

Could you please send the instructions to this email? (root (at) > cpan (dot) org) ?? Where does email addressed to that address go to? The email was sent, with confidential information to that address already. If someone else has access to that address, we would like to know ASAP. Second, please change your bugzilla email to the one you want us to send the instructions to. I'm de-listing the mirror as a temp measure till this is resolved.

That domain (cromosdodi.no-ip.org) simply do not exist anymore, so the mail probably got lost or bounced back to you again. > > Second, please change your bugzilla email to the one you want us to send the > instructions to. I didn't know that this was possible! That's the reason I created a second account (under the email root (at) cpan (dot) org). I've changed the email of the first account already, so now the messages will never be lost :) (now If only I could erase the second account...). > > I'm de-listing the mirror as a temp measure till this is resolved. > Thank you for your security measures! Can you relist it now and send me the instructions please? Big sorry for this mess

Just to let you know, this mirror was updated. It is now running on a full RAID5 array with SATA2 hard drivers and a 1Gbps line. You should expect more speed now. We are opening a new ticket for rsync mirror :) Thank you
