Updates for the modular x guide now that modular x 7.0 is stable. (patch coming)
Created attachment 90543 [details, diff] modular-x-howto.patch Removes the keywording instructions from the modular X guide, and puts in some warnings about binary drivers and xorg 7.1.
1) You really should validate your XML before submitting patches. You open a warn tag but close a warning tag. See http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp/doc/doc-tipsntricks.xml on how to setup and use xmllint to validate documents. 2) Modular X isn't yet stable on all architectures. In fact it's currently only stable on 2 of the 12 archtiectures it supports, therefore the instructions removed by this patch are still relevent to a large number of users. While I realise a number of those will be stabilising it in the coming days and weeks, I don't think those instructions should be removed altogether. My suggestion would be to split the section on adding it modular X to package.keywords into a seperate section, telling users on the stable archs to skip it. A quick suggestion, since you're updating the guide it might be a nice idea to add a bit on masking xorg 7.1 for architectures where both are usntable, given the current issues with the binary ati/nvidia drivers. Even a simple link to http://planet.gentoo.org/developers/chutzpah/2006/06/17/xorg_x11_7_1_and_binary_drivers would be good in my opinion.
The keywording section should not be removed, it's still useful for people wanting to use the ~arch modular X. I've already modified it to reflect the change to stable. I added the bit about binary drivers and 7.1, though.
