Description odontocete 2006-06-28 08:07:55 UTC
The ebuild for net-misc/netpipes states that it should build for any platform, but it only has a keyword for x86. Changing the ebuild does indeed allow for successful compilation on amd64, and the components function properly. This is a very mature package, and I suggest that it be enabled for all platforms.

please don't reset the title
Comment 2 odontocete 2006-06-28 17:27:51 UTC
OK, I won't reset the title, but it does not accurately reflect the bug. The netpipes ebuild is broken for amd64

Altered ebuild

Here's the ebuild I used.

an ebuild isn't broken because it lacks a keyword. the 'works on amd64' is the defacto-standard summary for keywording requests. if you say 'it doesn't work' that looks like it's got a broken build system or crashes. http://tinyurl.com/gkulz will show you ~1500 bugs that use this naming scheme, all stating the same kind of "error" you are reporting. btw, this is also documented here: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/howtos/index.xml?part=1&chap=1#doc_chap_pre2

so, to put it short, we did understand your request :)

Compiles and runs fine. Please add ~amd64 keyword.
