When I try to emerge nvidia-settings, I get the message: >>> Emerging (1 of 1) media-video/nvidia-settings-1.0.20060516 to / >>> checking ebuild checksums ;-) >>> checking auxfile checksums !!! This affects AMD64 as well.
I have it too. See http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-448463.html for further discussion/confirmation. W
I think that who ever did the digest on the file accidently put libXNVCtrl.a into /usr/portage/media-video/nvidia-settings/files/. Redigesting the ebuild fixes it.
Thanks, digesting it fixed it on my system as well. Hopefully the issue will be quickly corrected though.
No missing file here; emerge --sync again. http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/media-video/nvidia-settings/files/

Hmmm, seems to be missing on mirrors... huh.
Should it even be directly in portage tree, being binary file?
Since redigesting works, im guessing it was never needed and doesnt need to be on mirrors.
what is the .a file doing in the tree anyway? Shouldn't it be on distfiles-local? Anyways, can't we just stable a newer version of nvidia-settings that doesnt use it?
Still getting the same error here.
I'm also seeing this issue. Portage was synced less than an hour ago.
alright, I've moved the .a file to my devspace...
