I'm having the same problem here. I noticed it after upgrading to modular X, which recently hit Portage. Reinstalling the various emul-linux-x86-* packages didn't help.
Comment 3 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-03 19:47:30 UTC
Which version of emul-linux-x86-gtklibs? I'm guessing 2.3. If so, could you upgrade to 2.8.8 and see if that fixes it?
Comment 4 deathlove 2006-07-03 21:43:52 UTC
thanks, i make a Update of emul-linux-x86-gtklibs 2.3 to 2.8.8
and works fine now.

Fixed the gtklibs dep.

Comment 7 Scott Alfter 2006-07-05 09:59:44 UTC
I've upgraded to the updated emul-linux-x86-* packages, and while mplayer-bin now starts and begins to play, there are some playback errors that don't occur with mplayer. Some files (such as http://www.gop.com/media/cutandrun.wmv) quickly get out of sync with errors such as this:

Invalid frame duration value (9.000/9.000 => -0.000). Defaulting to 0.044 sec.

AFAIK, this file worked with earlier versions of mplayer-bin. I know it works with mplayer-1.0_pre8 (video format is WMV7). It doesn't occur with all files (some MPEG-2 samples I had on hand played without error).

Please open a separate bug.
