Description Cal Evans 2003-01-12 13:50:31 UTC
It would be nice to have a new features in emerge.

1: emerge -p explain php
This should show each package that will be emerged to install PHP using the
current USE variables. If a package is being installed to resolve a dependency
of another package then it would be nice to have that package shown, indented,
beneath the package that requires it. If the package is an optional package and
being installed because of a USE setting then it would be nice to have that USE
variable displayed to the left of the package. (in a different color if color is
turned on?)

the tree request is at 4229

as for the showing of USE varaible that caused a package merge ... that'll be helpful so that we
dont have to make docs to show ppl why their `emerge <pkg>` wants to suddenly install xfree
