With me it segfaults even sooner - just shows the first screen the fade effect and segfaults even before getting to the menu.

error output:
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

versions:
adonthell 0.3.4a

I also experience a crash after the adonthell load screen. I do not reach the menu. Is there any other information I could provide that would be helpful?

There are (at least) two different bugs here... the segfault before the menu looks like a bug in freetype 2.1. I'm not sure about "*** get_py_obj: Type 'event*' not known to SWIG!" one.

Two or more bugs, that sucks! Btw the last time I checked on Debian wastesedge ran flawlessly (and it's a great game! What are we doing wrong?

P.S. I can't believe Gentoo is forcing me to use the Windows version :'(:

Works for me with adonthell-0.3.4a-r1, freetype-2.3.1 and swig-1.3.31.

Hey I just saw your comment. Where did you get adonthell-0.3.4a-r1? I don't see it in portage, maybe you can provide an ebuild? :)

I synced an hour ago but no news on wastesedge:

# emerge -s wastesedge

That is really strange. Although I synced today and I saw the announcement at packages.gentoo.org I can't get the newest wastesedge:

# emerge -av wastesedge

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] games-rpg/wastesedge-0.3.4 USE="nls vorbis -doc" 0 kB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

Am I missing something?

Thanks for poting that out :). The problem remains for me though :-( :

$ adonthell-wastesedge
/usr/games/bin/adonthell-wastesedge: line 3: 16542 Segmentation fault /usr/games/bin/adonthell wastesedge

I no longer get the original error from just after choosing a character. I get what appears to be everyone else's error, a seg-fault just before the menu.

Can anyone confirm that upgrading media-libs/freetype to 2.3.1 fixes this?

Yeah this does the trick :D. With freetype-2.3.1 wastesedge runs smooth here.

I just upgraded freetype and wastesedge runs fine now.
