Description James Gilliland 2006-06-19 17:23:29 UTC
Some javascript used by jquery doesn't seem to work on mozilla-firefox. It does work with mozilla-firefox-bin in my 32bit chroot. Specifically it seems to be the fade in effect.

two sites where this is visible:
http://jquery.com
http://www.visualjquery.com/

I've tried this with the mozdevelop use flag on and off.

Will accept bug once I confirm there is a problem on our end.
Comment 2 Jory A. Pratt 2006-07-01 12:44:51 UTC
works for me
Comment 3 James Gilliland 2006-07-27 23:04:57 UTC
Ok, this is still happening and I can reproduce it in seamonkey as well which makes me think it might be a bigger problem.

Here are the steps to reproduce so its clear:
on jquery.com there is a black box with "$("p.surprise").addClass("ohmy").show("slow");" and the a button that say "<< Run"
click on the button.
if a grey box drops down and with text then it is working correctly, if not then you are seeing the problem I'm having.

visualjquery.com starts correctly but clicking a link does weird things including sometimes showing partially faded blocks and sometimes nothing at all.
Comment 4 eric 2006-08-08 14:39:38 UTC
I have the exact same problem, ie. mozilla-firefox-bin works perfectly when my mozilla-firefox doesn't. It seems for 1 second, the script is played correcty then it hangs. Firefox is still usable (links, scrolling, etc.) except for all the javascript actions on the page.

Comment 5 James Gilliland 2006-08-10 10:13:08 UTC
I posted this to mozilla.org as I have had people test this without the gentoo patches and have the same problems.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348239

Also, I have had people test it on x86 platforms and they didn't have any problems(possibly why Jory didnt see it?).
Comment 6 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-11 14:04:07 UTC
Not Gentoo-specific, marking UPSTREAM.
