same here. gcompris is version 7.4. probably a missing dependency. well, it works otherwise, right? Hard to say this is a bug since you've basically told portage that you don't need mikmod support so sdl-mixer hasn't been built to support that. So... gcompris is doing the best that it can since it *can* run without sound and you've asked for it to be turned off implicitly.
I've rebuild sdl-mixer with "mikmod" flag and re-emerge gcompris still no sound. I've lost the sound in stable version 6.5.3-r1 yet. So I don't think that "mikmod" flag in sdl-mixer has anything to do with the sound. #Joseph
do emerge -evp gcompris > out and attach the out file as text/plain. Let's see what else is turned off.
Created attachment 91248 [details] out put of "emerge -evp gcompris OK, here it is, file name: evp_gcompris.txt I'll be glad to try any suggestion #Joseph
You're right, it's not the mikmod flag. Y'all probably want that in general since packages use it for sound, but I see you're both missing ogg and vorbis in your use flags. That's the issue here since gcompris uses .ogg files for the music. You'll probably want to turn those on as well. Do an emerge --newuse --deep world after turning those on.
I can confirm it as solved. Adding flags: "ogg vorbis" to make.conf and "emerge --newuse --deep world" fixed the problem. All together 11-packages were rebuilt; so during an upgrade one of the packages must have had these flags changed (turned off). #Joseph
