With recent version of Epiphany, if I drug little icon (left to URL) onto Desktop, it copies page content instead of creating link like Firefox does. Don't see any reason to copy page content (without images) and we have "Save as" for that. I recall earlier Epiphany worked similar to Firefox. (If I drug it to panel, it creates link)
according to the epi team this is a nautilus bug and there's an open report on gnome bugzilla. Haven't had the time to look it up.

I checked it on Ubuntu and even with latest gnome 2.14.2 and latest epiphany it works the same [broken] way. I even thought it this made on purpose...

This was fixed upstream almost one year ago in >=2.16.x http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339864
