The new mplayer can handle sorenson encoded quicktime movies, however, the libraries for it are not installed. If both mplayer and mplayer-cvs (from bug #11136) are installed, mplayer (not mplayer-cvs) can decode and play sorenson encoded quicktime movies. Based on the configure options of mplayer, it would appear that mplayer is built with sorenson quicktime support only if the codecs are already installed. Thus, if one installs mplayer-cvs and mplayer in that order, mplayer will be able to play sorenson encoded quicktime movies. But when mplayer-cvs is unmerged, the codecs will be uninstalled and mplayer will crash when attempting to play sorenson quicktime movies. I suggest that either quicktime support in mplayer-0.90_rc2 be disabled, or that the appropriate codecs are installed and support is enabled when USE="quicktime"
They are installed with quicktime in USE and media-libs/win32codecs are merged.
