Description SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-01-10 16:55:14 UTC
we've got Bug 10565 and Bug 10325 ...

i've tried and unable to reproduce them on my ppc ...
i am running the latest version of packages so there may be something here that i'm missing ...

could all the ppc guys try this:
export USE="nls"
env ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 " emerge =sed-4.05
emerge e2fsprogs
env ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc" emerge xmms

and see if either eat it for you

Tried it here, everything emerged without any problems. Seems to be working fine...
Comment 2 Seth Chandler 2003-01-11 18:08:51 UTC
xmms emerged???

are you using ccache or anything..?

i tried this lik ea week ago and it failed...
Comment 3 Olivier Reisch (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-01-12 03:31:19 UTC
Well, i use ccache, but i cleared it's cache last week to free up disk space and i haven't compiled xmms in months, so i guess it did get compiled all fresh yesterday... Next to that, i doubt ccache would jump in with a new sed being used on a compile... I bet your compile problem is related to something else... Maybe other CFLAGs, other package versions, whatever... Maybe sed fails with a very specific setup only. (Or works with a very specific one only, which happens to be mine)
Comment 4 Mark Guertin 2003-01-12 16:03:18 UTC
doc: the sed failure was a sed issue that could be reproduced by xmms and
e2fsprogs...

once things settle a bit after release I'll try this further as well

i dont want ppl to feel like i want this in 1.4 :)
i just want the new inline feature of sed available to everyone :D

so feel free to shove this off for a week or 2
Comment 6 Mark Guertin 2003-01-12 17:20:16 UTC
right-o :)

It will be on the post 1.4 fixme list then :)
Comment 7 Jonathan Nall 2003-02-04 21:47:17 UTC
can anyone who was having problems with this try again? sed-4.0.5 works great for me (both xmms and e2fsprogs emerge fine).
Comment 8 Jonathan Nall 2003-02-04 21:47:55 UTC
oops, didn't mean to hit you twice, gerk
Comment 9 Mark Guertin 2003-02-13 00:51:09 UTC
beaton, confirmed and upgraded to stable, was too long of a wait for 1.4.

Thanks everyone
