I was trying to emerge the following package: [ebuild N ] x11-base/xorg-server-1.0.2-r5 USE="dri ipv6 -debug -minimal -xprint" then I got this error (I have emerged both libdmx and dmxproto): checking whether to build Xdmx DDX... checking for DMXMODULES... yes configure: error: Xdmx build explicitly requested, but required modules not found.
Attach config.log here and post your emerge --info, please.

(In reply to comment #1) > Attach config.log here and post your emerge --info, please. > sorry, where can I find the config.log?
Exactly where the portage message (which you did cut) told you... If you don't have it any more, run emerge again.

You need to reopen the bug when you've provided requested info. Otherwise, chances are noone will ever notice again.
i'm reinstalling my gentoo. that is why I closed it. but there is another guy who posted the same bug as me. Should I reopen it? if so, how to reopen? thanks for your help.
Looks like both of you are missing libXrender. Please post the output of 'emerge -epv xorg-x11 | grep libXrender', then emerge it manually (emerge --oneshot libXrender) and try again. Vincent, the bug has already been re-opened by Jakub. There are radio buttons above the 'Commit' button that let you open/close the bug.
Please reopen when you reply.

It would seem to me that if you add dmx to the use flags, that libXrender should be added to the dependencies for the emerge.
Hey, I have same issue. Doing normal clean stage3 AMD64, lastest ~ portage, baselayout2, cfg and installed vanilla 2.6.36-r4, grub 1.98, booted into the system and tried to emerge xorg-1.9 from x11 overlay. It failed with exactly same message. I confirm that manual pull of libXrender resolves the issue, it was NOT installed before. Please add libXrender as depend, if USE +dmx for xorg-server. This issue is same for amd64, and even xorg-1.9
