Description Randall Nortman 2006-06-11 13:08:33 UTC
I get the following error when I try to emerge gaim with userpriv in FEATURES:

-----
/bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --tag=CC --mode=link x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc  -pipe -O2 -Wall -g3   -o perl.la -rpath /usr/lib64/gaim -module -avoid-version -lglib-2.0   -rdynamic -L/usr/local/lib64 /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/auto/DynaLoader/DynaLoader.a -L/usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/CORE -lperl -lpthread -lnsl -ldl -lm -lcrypt -lutil -lc perl.lo perl-common.lo perl-handlers.lo -rdynamic -L/usr/local/lib64 /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/auto/DynaLoader/DynaLoader.a -L/usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/CORE -lperl -lpthread -lnsl -ldl -lm -lcrypt -lutil -lc -lnsl

Looking at the file it's complaining about, I see that it is a broken symlink:
ls -l /var/tmp/portage/gaim-1.5.0/work/gaim-1.5.0/plugins/perl/common/Gaim.pm
lrwxrwxrwx 1 portage portage 74 Jun 11 16:04 /var/tmp/portage/gaim-1.5.0/work/gaim-1.5.0/plugins/perl/common/Gaim.pm -> ..//var/tmp/portage/gaim-1.5.0/work/gaim-1.5.0/plugins/perl/common/Gaim.pm

When I remove userpriv from FEATURES, it works fine.

emerge --info output (with userpriv enabled):

Comment 1 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-01 08:55:22 UTC
Is this still an issue? If so, please try re-emerging with usersandbox in features and let me know if it's still reproduceable.
Comment 2 Randall Nortman 2006-07-02 08:31:07 UTC
Magically, it is fixed. Let us host a great banquet to thank the gods for this inexplicable miracle.

Works fine with userpriv, and I didn't have to try usersandbox. Did you change something, or was this just a fluke?
Comment 3 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-02 09:28:19 UTC
I hadn't changed anything with the 1.5.0 ebuild. Could have been a fluke, or an update to perl perhaps. Either way, very glad it's working now.
