A kernel compiled from vanilla-sources-2.6.15.1 (which is marked stable for alpha) does not work on Alpha XL. When booting I see the message on the screen saying: * Checking root filesystem ... fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve 'LABEL=root' * filesystem couldn't be fixed :( For the complete messages, see the attached jpg. A kernel compiled from vanilla-sources-2.6.14.2 (which in the mean time disappeared from portage) works okay and now I also tried 2.6.16.16 (which is marked stable for x86) and this one works okay too. I suggest marking 2.6.15.1 unstable for alpha in favor of 2.6.16.16.

Since my suggestion (marking 2.6.15.1 unstable for alpha) is silently ignored and there are newer kernel versions (of which none are marked stable for alpha) which don't have this issue I close this bug as wontfix...
