Description Yan Sander 2006-06-07 15:57:16 UTC
Hello,
During the kernel configuration (hardened sources), I didn't find the option "Smart Array 6i support". I tried "Smart Array 5XXX" and compiled the kernel. During the reboot I had a kernel panic. It seems the system cannot find the root partition. Can you confirm that this controller is not yet supported? May I patch the kernel? When will it be available?
Thank you,
Yan

Re-assigning.
Please don't file kernel bugs to devrel.

Bugzilla is not a support forum. Please try looking in the forums and/or asking in #gentoo on the freenode IRC network.

Yes, that's the right option. The module is called "cciss" and creates the disks in /dev/cciss/. c0d0p1 is the first partition from disk 1 from the first controller, it's easy to understand.

Hope this helps

Closing. In future please don't use bugzilla for simple queries unless you have tried other lines of support first.
