sames screensaver starts when monitor turns of due DPMS - monitor turns off after couple seconds turn on with blank screen and i see screensaver process (in my case flurry)
I'm not sure if this is the same bug or if I should start a new bug. After updating to KDE 3.5.3, Kscreensaver stopped working. However, DPMS blanking works fine. Xscreensaver also works fine. Kscreensaver does not activate. Screen locking does not work. Accessing the screen saver settings via kcontrol causes kcontrol to crash with the following error: kcontrol: stack smashing attack in function virtual void QWidget::create(WId, bool, bool)() Emerge --info: Portage 2.0.54-r2 (default-linux/x86/2006.0, gcc-3.4.6, glibc-2.3.6-r3, 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1000MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 dev-python/pycrypto: [Not Present] dev-util/ccache: [Not Present] dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -O3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/lib/citadel" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -O3" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo ftp://chod.cwru.edu/gentoo ftp://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo/ http://mirror.uni-c.dk/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/mnt/net/keeper/apps/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X Xaw3d a52 aac aalib accessibility acl acpi alsa aotuv apache2 arts asf ati audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cairo caps cddb cdinstall cdparanoia cdr cli crypt css cups curl custom-cflags directfb dlloader dmx doc dri dts dv dvd dvdread edl eds emboss encode esd examples exif expat fam fame fbcon ffmpeg flac font-server foomaticdb fortran gcj gd gdbm gif gimpprint glibc-omitfp glitz glut gmp gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal hardened howl hpn idn imagemagick imlib innodb ipv6 isdnlog jack java jbig joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde kerberos lcms ldap libclamav libg++ libwww lirc live lzo mad matroska mikmod mjpeg mmap mmx mmxext mng motif mozdevelop mozilla mozsvg mozxmlterm mp3 mpeg mpi nas ncurses network nls nowebdav nptl nptlonly nsplugin oav objc offensive ogg on-the-fly-crypt opengl pam pccts pcmcia pcre pda pdflib perl physfs pic pie png ppds pppd python qt quicktime quotas readline real reflection rtc samba sasl sdl session slp sndfile speex spell spl sqlite sse ssl subversion svg syslog tcltk tcpd tga theora threads tiff toolbar transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb userlocales v4l v4l2 vcd vidix vorbis win32codecs wmf xanim xcomposite xine xinerama xml xml2 xmms xorg xosd xprint xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc yv12 zlib zvbi userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS
(In reply to comment #0) This looks like a KDE bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128610 Apparently, the code fix is listed in the bug report. Any hope of getting a kdeartwork-3.5.3-r1?

Xscreensaver also works fine. this is a kde bug dpms issue is depend on x server driver - bug in xorg-x11-7.1 xscreensaver works fine :) kscreensaver turns on screenssaver when display is off due dpms... i was finded frurry process in my system is runing when lcd displays off :)
Included in my kdebase-3.5.3-r1 set of patches, need to test a bit, but will be committed in a few days.
The patch doesn't cut it, as you can read in the upstream bug(s),
(In reply to comment #6) The bug has been considered RESOLVED in bugs.kde.org for weeks, but no update in gentoo yet. Is this going to be fixed? http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128610
Has been fixed with 3.5.4.
I'm confused. I still have the same problem that I had in comment 2. Kscreenaver is still broken. The patch talked about in this bug was added to kdesktop-3.5.3-r1. It didn't fix the problem. I'm currently running: [ebuild R ] kde-base/kdesktop-3.5.4 USE="arts xinerama xscreensaver -debug -kdeenablefinal -kdehiddenvisibility" [ebuild R ] kde-base/kscreensaver-3.5.3 USE="arts opengl xinerama -debug -kdeenablefinal -kdehiddenvisibility" kscreensaver-3.5.3 is the latest version available in portage. Is my bug different than described here? Should I file a seperate report?
