After emerging pbbuttonsd with the useflag "ibam" active, it would no longer start. It complained about a missing /var/lib/ibam directory. The problem was solved by creating that directory with:

$ mkdir /var/lib/ibam

The pbbuttonsd ebuild should create that directory automatically.
