After loading an eps file ggv completely freezes. After that I have to kill ggv and ggv-postscript-viewer manually. I just found out that this problem does NOT occur for ggv-1.99.96, which is still masked. It seems that all files that start with "%!PS-Adobe-2.0 EPSF-1.2" cause ggv the freeze. Files without the "EPSF-1.2" part work properly. That's why e.g. the famous "tiger.ps" doesn't load properly either; it also has EPSF-1.2 in its first line. Simply removing the EPSF-1.2 part from the first line of the (e)ps file "solves" the problem. Reproduce: ggv /usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/examples/tiger.ps I encountered this bug on two different boxes (Intel and Athlon). So please unmask ggv-1.99.96 :) (and, while you're at it, perhaps ggv-1.99.97 could be added is well? You know, bleeding edge and all.... :) Looks like a trivial version bump to me anyway.)
we did some test, .96 seems to be the best atm. some test docs we have do not load in .97 .
Fair enough. I had problems downloading .97 anyway, it seems to be missing on the download mirrors. But .96 works fine for me so that's OK.
.98 is in and seems to work ok. Will be declared stable soon as part of gnome2.2 .
