but when i start browsing my system crasses..
Programs versions: net-misc/l7-filter-2.1_p1
                            sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r9

Comment 1 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-05 05:08:24 UTC
is this a multiprocessor machine?
http://l7-filter.sourceforge.net/HOWTO (Warning below "Kernel Patch")
Comment 2 LaPaToR 2006-06-05 06:06:30 UTC
No it is not multiprocessor. Also with kernel sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r7 i get error like "unknown error 15456135987615648913" With the latest kernel i dont get that kind of error but it crashes...
Comment 3 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-05 08:25:20 UTC
confirmed freeze with sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r7 and l7-filter-2.2. No bad log entries here. I will report the bug to the upstream maintainers after some rest (unless you do first).
Comment 4 LaPaToR 2006-06-05 15:12:56 UTC
If you can .. to that.
Nice iptables patch anyway..!!
Comment 5 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-05 17:35:08 UTC
problem reported as per ref URL.
iptables patch referring to the l7-support in the iptables package? All part of the service - enjoy.
Comment 6 LaPaToR 2006-06-06 08:44:35 UTC

Comment 7 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-10 06:42:58 UTC
np. Seems to be easily reproduceable and it reported upstream so lets see how they fix it.
Comment 8 k0001 2006-10-19 21:07:35 UTC
i had the same problem.. checked layer7 bug tracker at sourceforge.... and it's a "normal" error in versions prior to 2.5, so... you should bump to version 2.5, at least that was the answer for me.
Comment 9 Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-06 10:53:41 UTC
as per ref URL upstream reports this is fixed in later versions. Please reopen if it is not. Only 2.3 and 2.6 l7-filter versions are currently in portage.
