Yes, it does. The driver doesn't work there.

Comment 3 Balint Dobai-Pataky 2006-06-11 17:22:40 UTC
i managed to emerge x11-base/xorg-server-1.1.0 x11-base/xorg-x11-7.1 media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.8762 media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.8762 by upgrading them one by one, and i see no problem on running X, glxgears, glest.

Available OpenGL implementations:
  [1] nvidia *
  [2] xorg-x11

glxinfo |grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

i only have some texts missing in some gtk2 buttons, like tabs in firefox, menuitems, accounts in thunderbird.
so i'm just curious what does exactly "Yes, it does. The driver doesn't work there." mean? where should i look for the bugreports on which this masking is based on?

btw,
emerge -vaNDu still complains about nvidia-glx blocking xorg-server

Comment 4 Balint Dobai-Pataky 2006-06-11 23:16:55 UTC
having no text on buttons is just a font problem, if i switch from helvetica to sans, texts show right.
Comment 5 psk 2006-07-31 16:34:36 UTC
I got this bug too, very annoying to emerge -u world.
Any solution ?
Comment 6 Balint Dobai-Pataky 2006-08-01 04:16:49 UTC
my temporary solution:

cat /etc/portage/package.mask
